THE BOOK OF NEHEMIAH
TEXT: Nehemiah 4:1-9
THEME : Unbreakable in the face of threat
VERSE TO REMEMBER : Be on your guard; Stand firm in the faith; Be courageous; Be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13
INTRODUCTION
We usually pray that God should keep us from discouragement, opposition and threats, however, His way is not always to save us FROM it, but to save us IN it. When we learn to accept this truth, we become unbreakable as we lean on God through prayer and act wisely within his counsel to achieve success.
HIGHLIGHTS
1. The enemies of Jerusalem are furious that their efforts at discouraging the work are not yielding fruit. ( Vs 1-3; Ch 2:19)
2. Nehemiah again prays in the face of further opposition and scorn. (Vs 4-5; Ch 2:20)
3. The work reaches an important milestone- all walls are connected and up to halfway (vs 6)
4. Nehemiah began steps to mitigate the threat.
